The story of Terrie Williams and her Agency has, over the last dozen years, been well documented and chronicled. In February 1988 The Terrie Williams Agency officially began doing business. Geared initially to handle entertainers and celebrities, Terrie opened the doors to her new company by signing as her first clients two of the biggest names in the world: box office powerhouse Eddie Murphy; and Miles Davis, a true legend and one of the most influential jazz artists history will ever record. A little more than six years after her entrepreneurial debut, Terrie wrote her first book: The Personal Touch: What You Really Need to Succeed in Today's Fast-Paced Business World. Published in 1994 by Warner Books, it quickly became a bestseller and has become a bible for anyone who wants to excel in a high-tech, fast-moving, ever-impersonal world.
The link between what led Terrie to hang her own shingle and later author a book is dutifully illustrated in the aforementioned title The Personal Touch. Because although Terrie has achieved success and a stellar reputation as a businesswoman, she is-first and foremost-a human being who genuinely cares about other people. As Bill Cosby wrote in the foreword of The Personal Touch: "Terrie Williams knows how to deal with people, and she knows how to treat everyone with respect. To be able to understand and handle human behavior-and then apply that 'personal touch' at work-requires a person who is listening, who is way ahead, who is respectful. Terrie is that person."
